DC DHCD Good Hope Road Phase 1 ESA
DC Department of Housing & Community Development, Washington, DC
PEER was recently awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) by the District of Columbia Government to provide Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) services to the DC Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) and other agencies on an as-needed basis.
The purpose of the assessments is to determine potential environmental concerns that could be a liability to the District. These concerns could consist of, but are not limited to, the potential for soil and ground water contamination from on-site and off-site sources and the potential for on-site use of hazardous and toxic materials and wastes. The assessments were performed in accordance with the requirements of the American Society of Testing and Materials’ (ASTM) Standard Practice E1527-05. Our initial task was to conduct a Phase I ESA for a site located in a commercial area of the Anacostia neighborhood in DC. The site consisted of three parcels of land with two single-story and one two-story brick structures. DHCD requested that PEER expedite the ESA and submit the draft report less than ten days after receiving the notice to proceed.
Upon completion of the project, the client has been alerted to the potential for environmental concerns associated with the property and can make an informed decision with respect to taking ownership of the property.
