Broad Creek Infiltration/Inflow and Sewer System Evaluation Study
for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission

PEER Consultants is providing professional engineering and field services for the Infiltration and Inflow (I/I) Analysis and Sewer System Evaluation Survey (SSES) Phase II of the Broad Creek Drainage Basin for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC). The Broad Creek drainage basin consists of approximately 1,632,000 linear feet (309 miles) of sewer pipes ranging in diameter from 6 to 66 inches.

PEER prepared a flow monitoring plan; performed flow isolation and field measurements, conducted manhole and close-circuit television inspections, and smoke testing. PEER developed a computer hydraulic model, performed extensive flow capacity analysis, and developed recommendations and cost estimates for rehabilitation or replacement of defective manholes and pipelines as well as additional field work to identify sources of infiltration/inflow. PEER assisted the Commission in the evaluation, selection and implementation of a database management program for effective and efficient management of the large volume of I/I and SSES data collected within the Broad Creek drainage basin.
