Storm Sewer Sediment Analysis, Boston Water and Sewer Commission, Boston, MA |
|||
PEER is conducting an analysis of sewer sediment and adjacent soils to support storm sewer cleaning and repair activities for the Boston Water and Sewer Commission (BWSC), Boston, MA. Soil and sediment samples are being collected from various locations throughout the sewer system and submitted for chemical analysis for hazardous waste characteristics (leachable pollutants, reactivity, paint filter test, flash point and pH), as well as for petroleum hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), chlorinated pesticides, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), total metals, and total solids. The data will be used to determine whether the soil/sediment is a hazardous waste and to define appropriate re-use/disposal options.
