Dr. Abron at Summit
Dr. Abron at Bali Climate Change
            Conference, December 2007.

Dr. Abron was invited to be a delegate of the US Mission on Sustainable Energy and Trade Development to the Republic of South Africa in August 1995.   The purpose of this mission was to help advance the goals of the Bi-national Commission led by Vice President Gore and Minister Mbecki, which President Mandela and President William Clinton established to address issues of importance to each of their nations.  Dr. Abron’s work along with the other delegates was to strengthen US ties with South Africa, promote private investment, assist in building capacity, and facilitate economic growth and efforts to protect the environment. This trip laid the ground work and forged relationships that solidified PEER Africa’s growth and sustainability in South Africa.  Today the company is recognized as a trailblazer and innovator in environmental and energy sustainability, energy efficient infrastructure (housing, community,
and energy demand), renewable energy and demand-side management, jobs creation and capacity building in the country today.

Within the Gore-Mbeki Bi-national Commission, PEER’s housing program set the tone for the commission and excelled.  PEER was recognized at the United Nations Framework Convention 4 (COP 4) held in Kyoto, Japan as having a best practice paradigm in affordable, energy efficient housing in the world.  Since then, PEER US and PEER Africa have attended all of the UNFCCC meetings around the world and have become a well know entity on the international scene when it comes to infrastructure projects for the mitigation of Greenhouse Gases, especially housing and community development.
