Civil Engineer Environmental Restoration
Responsibilities:
Plans and coordinates engineering activities with the Engineering Department.
Responsible for planning, interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating
the engineering tasks on Environmental Restoration (ER) and Decontamination
and Decommission (D&D)projects. Assists the Project Manager in managing
the approved budgets for tasks. Identifies design criteria and oversees
project design activities. Prepares subcontract packages, evaluates bids
and recommends successful bidder. Resolves construction and operational
problems. Prepares estimates for engineering tasks. Supports other ER
activities. Evaluates technologies for (D&D) operations, troubleshoot
engineering and construction problems and identifies alternative solutions.
Creates a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication,
teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction maintain ownership
of engineering tasks, identifies scope of work changes and process the
change accordingly. Performs related work as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or field related to the position
or equivalent training and experience, plus a minimum of 8 years related
professional experience in Civil/Structural and Design engineering. Background
and experience are as follows: Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
Experience in scheduling and cost estimating is required. Must be able
to evaluate and assess structural condition of the facilities prepared
for (D&D) planning and operations. Knowledge with requirements for
project nuclear and radiological facilities, DSA and TSR.documents desirable.
Ability to obtain a DOE “Q” clearance is required.
