Dr. Abron featured in Changing Our World: True Stories of Women Engineers

The American Society of Civil Engineers recently published: Changing Our World: True Stories of Women Engineers, edited by Sybil E. Hatch. This book is the result of the Extraordinary Women Engineers Project Coalition – Dianne Dorland, President of AIChE, Susan Skemp, President ASME, Teresa Helmlinger, President NSPE, LeEarl Bryant, President IEEE, and Patricia Galloway, President ASCE.

The purpose of this book, which features the work of women in engineering and over 200 female engineers in their specific projects, “is to inform girls, guidance counselors, teachers and parents about why engineering is such an exciting career – and how engineers improve the quality of life of all people.”

Dr. Lilia A. Abron is one of the featured engineers in this book and her work in the development of the energy efficient homes in South Africa was selected as the showcase project. If you have the opportunity, please try to get a copy of the book and perhaps purchase a few copies to give to your child’s school or your church to help spread the work that diversity in a profession makes it better able to serve mankind and the world. Engineering is a much better profession now, because of the very nature of our workforce and we want to maintain that diversity and energy.
